Furniture fire damages home
Furniture placed near a floor furnace caused a fire Friday that damaged the interior of a home in east Amarillo.
Firefighters responded at 3:20 p.m. to a residence at 2223 Rule St. They found brown smoke coming from the roof vents of a single story home.
Responders discovered a love seat on fire in the living room and successfully brought the blaze under control in less than five minutes.

The Columbus woman shifted just seven blocks down 13th Street to open Chris’ Home Furnishings: New and Used after working for a couple of months on an inventory clearance sale for her brother’s store down the street.
“We were done clearing the building (2412 13th St.) on Oct. 30, and I wanted to open this store on Nov. 2,” said Weyer, busy getting the 6,500-square-foot former Tighton Tool building at 3121 13th St. in shipshape condition inside and out.
